The Journey Begins...
What is Journey on?
Becoming like Christ isn't an event. It's a journey. For each Christ-follower, this journey begins at different times in life, in different places and at different paces.
JourneyOn is a discipleship and spiritual formation strategy designed to meet you wherever you are on this journey, to help make you a disciple of Jesus, and to move you forward to a Christ-centered life.
What is a Christ-Centered Life?
JourneyOn defines a Christ-Centered Life like this: Living so that the personality and deeds of Jesus Christ naturally flow out of us wherever we live, work and play.
Getting from here to there ...
Maybe you started your journey as a child. Or perhaps you began walking with Christ later on in life. We'll help you discover where you are. Wherever that is, that's where we'll meet you. Along the way, we'll provide markers as you progress from exploring Christ to being Christ-centered and build your walk with Him on these seven spiritual foundations:
7 Ways We Move...
We all start somewhere in our spiritual walk and everyone's journey looks different. We don't all move at the same pace or connect the same way. That's why we offer a variety of ways for you to move.
1. Worship - Worship is simply our whole-life response to who God is, what He has done, what He is doing, and what He will do. (Rom. 12:1). God desires for His people to gather together in worship regularly with other believers as it is essential to the spiritual health of Christians. While biblical worship certainly includes music, it also incorporates preaching, giving, prayer, Scripture reading, fellowship, and other elements. Thus when we join together in corporate worship of God, we bless God, encourage others and enhance our spiritual growth (Hebrews 10:24-25). Our worship services meet every Sunday at 8:30 & 11:00 AM.
2. Sunday School - We've learned that people move best on the journey when they travel together in groups that regularly meet, seek God, and love one another. That's why we offer Sunday School classes for men, women, couples, singles, students, children and preschoolers. Sunday School classes provide a more intimate setting that allow us to know and care for one another better (Acts 2:42-47). Our Sunday School meets at 9:45 AM. Click here for a SS Class Directory.
3. Focus Studies - Short-term, intentional studies and workshops look at God's Word as it relates to specific topics (2 Timothy 3:16). Our Focus Studies normally meet on Wednesdays throughout the school year. Click here to see a list of our current Focus Studies being offered.
4. Discipleship Groups - A Discipleship Group, or “Dgroup”, is a small, intimate, same gender group that will provide you with an accelerated season of spiritual growth. Dgroups meet weekly for 12-18 months and will help you create and sharpen some spiritual disciplines that will engage you with God’s Word and His people in a way you may have never before. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8). If you’d like to inquire about joining a Dgroup, click on this link.
5. Personal Growth - As Christ-followers, we all need to continue to grow in our relationship with Christ. This can be done both corporately and privately. As disciples, it’s important to develop a regular, personal devotion time with the Lord through studying and meditating upon God’s Word, praying, and worshipping. RightNow Media is a great resource to help you in your personal growth. If you haven't been given access to RightNow Media, please email Pastor Aaron and he'll send you a link. (Colossians 2:6-7, Matthew 22:36-40)
6. Ministry Service - God has uniquely gifted each and every one of us as Christ-followers with certain spiritual gifts to use in building up the body of Christ for His glory. Each of us as Christ-followers are all called reach the lost and disciple the saved. The local church is not a destination but a base of operation from which we are to go out from and serve. We provide many opportunities each year both domestically and internationally to fulfill the command of Christ to go into all the world and preach the gospel. One of the best ways we know how to help you discover what your spiritual gift(s) are and in which context they can be use is through our PLACE Experience. (Romans 8:4-8, Ephesians 4:11-12, 1 Corinthians 12:7-11, Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:19-20).
7. Community - As a disciple of Jesus, we need the fellowship of one another. We cannot survive on our own but when we come together, we are encouraged and strengthened in our faith. Fellowships are a great way to connect with others and find our commonalities that draw us together. (Acts 2:42-47) Click here for more info about our Men's Fellerships and our Women's Fellowships. Another great resource you will want to use to connect with others is Realm.
Journey for a Lifetime
It doesn't matter where you are, what age you are, or what circumstances you face. And it isn't about completing a group of classes, graduating in record time, and then walking away from this process. It's an everyday marathon for the rest of your life.
