ESL Course Descriptions
FFBC ESL currently conducts three levels of "Conversational English" in an environment of Christian fellowship. Our goal is to demonstrate the love of Christ, to serve, to challenge, and encourage you to communicate effectively within the normal day-to-day activities of family, business and community life here in the United States of America.
- New students must complete an English Competency Evaluation before being placed in a specific level.
- Each semester, students are re-evaluated and assigned a class suited for their skill level
- Not all levels are offered each semester. Student participation and teacher availability dictate our ability to teach ALL levels.
Beginner:
Major purpose is to get the student at ease with the phonic nature of the language and teach the basic use of the language as it relates to conversation. Some 55 or so sounds are practiced and drilled until the student can articulate basic expression including: Name, Phone Number, Address, Safety related expressions and concerns, Numbers, Calendar Dates, Holidays, Money, etc.
Intermediate:
Some English fluency is expected in order to perform well in this class. Students are challenged with more detailed usage of conversational English. Some understanding of basic English grammar and sentence structure is required in order to do well in this class environment.
Advanced:
*When offered during any semester. Each Level may have students of varying degrees of competency with the language.
